Organization begins with keeping items in areas near where they are used. Many, many specifics are available on Hometalk and other websites and the way in which you organize is dependent on the size of your kitchen, the amount of items you have to organize. . It comes down to what works best for you and how you live and work in your kitchen. Containers, baskets, and other storage boxes can be used to place like things with like things and that's the start of organizing.
Take everything out. Everything! Get rid of stuff you don't need or use. Much easier to organize when you have less stuff!
Hi Doreen: For your upper cupboards, put whatever you use most, like glasses, and cups, should go on the first shelf. The next higher shelf should be dishes and bowls. If you have another, higher shelf, put the not often used things, like gravy bowls, and dishes you don't use often. The other upper cupboards. the ones near the stove, put your bread, things in jars, like brown sugar, 10x sugar, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, etc, and maybe cookbooks. Lower shelves could hold mixers, pots and pans, cooking bowls and dishes and mixing cups and another one could hold canned and jarred goods. cereals and pastas. I put my cookie sheets between the stove and fridge, or cabinet, if there's no door there. Under the sink I have my counter top mixer, hand mixer, toaster and on the other side I have my soaps and cleaning supplies. Anyway, that's how I arranged my kitchen shelves :)

Hi! My best organization for the kitchen is to keep things where they make sense to me. My dishes are in the upper cupboards by the dishwasher. My silverware is in a drawer by the dishwasher. My pots and pans are sorted by type in a lower cupboard. All my baking supplies are kept together. Rarely used platters and seasonal items are kept up high. I basically ask myself "where do I use this?". That's how I ended up putting a shelf/rack next to my stove for cooking utensils. That's also why I have a shelf above the garbage and recycling containers, with my garbage bags, gloves and air freshener. The coffee maker is on it's own stand with the coffee pods in the drawers, and a small garbage can for used pods. If you organize it so it works for you, you won't have trouble finding things or putting them away. Good luck and stay!
