You can just hem the bottom shorter
Converting to a crop top would require measuring first and making sure you leave the front longer than the back. It is much more important in shorter shirts than longer for women. If you have someone to help you, put the shirt on and have them mark it with chalk to the desired length. Cut an inch longer than desired. Do a small 1/4" hem first, if the material is delicate use fray check to prevent fraying, then do a second 1/2" hem.
