If you are seeking a more refined-looking hanging door, then barn doors are not the direction to go. I would suggest you to consider either suspended/hanging mirrored French doors instead. Here are some examples from Wayfair.

Keep in mind that sliding (bypass) closet doors can also be mounted on the outside of the doorway directly on to the walls.

You can glam it up by painting bright white and trim with silver. I would stay away from glass and mirrors because of fingerprints. You can use a traditional door but hang in the barn door method.

You can turn almost any premade door into a barn door, meaning if you see one with a glass or mirror insert, you can likely use it. Or seek out a slab door and dress it up as you wish.
