Hi Hometalk, I have high vaulted ceilings and I wanted to get some DIY ideas.
We have some very high ceilings in our home as well. So we painted the ceilings the same colour as the walls, thinking it would all blend a bit better. Not make the ceilings look so high. Is that an option for you?
Here are some ideas: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/232082/paint-ideas-for-a-living-room-with-high-ceilings-and-family-room
Hi ceilings I think are always complicated by large hanging light fixtures such as chandeliers etc. to bring the eye up and really accentuate them.
It depends on the look you want. If you want them to stand out, paint them a different color than the walls. If you want them to blend in, paint them the same color.
Maybe shiplap? 3D wallpaper?
I found shiplap with crown moulding here:
I had another idea of using ceiling beams to break up the light color and bring interest to the ceiling.
amazon wall murals
You could paint one wall as a feature wall to break up the solid colour.
I have seen two toned paint and use of crown moldings that look fabulous. Of course the molding cuts down on the depth of the ceiling. I prefer the two toned paint.
Here is a great tutorial on ceilings
Emulsion all the same colour, Use Coving or timber to separate and then Paint or Paper different colours to choice. Add Beams, Add Large Stick on Perspex Mirrors to look like windows with a Frame. Use Book Wallpaper to give the look of shelved books etc. Add Large Murals. Paint to look like Sky etc. Hope that helps a bit!
Keep in mind that any decorating job on a high vaulted ceiling will require an extra tall very sturdy ladder and a certain amount of physical strength and agility, to accomplish successfully.
You're welcome. 'Good to hear you are taking a wise approach.
You did not say in what rooms the vaulted ceilings are in, or how tall they are,
but here are some inspirational pictures of fully decorated rooms:
You could put beams across the ceiling
Beams and mouldings make a huge difference without closing in the space.
I am thinking about the beams and crown molding for sure. Thanks 😊
I would just trim it all out and make some beams but it all depends on what room that is in

I like the beams idea. Thanks 😊
I think it’s all going to depend on what room this is, what your style is, what your budget is, and what your goals are. I’d suggest searching around Hometalk, Pinterest, or even just Google images to narrow down some design ideas.
