Finishing wax for a fireplace?
Is there a finishing wax that I can use on my freshly white washed fireplace, to protect from the dark soot of the wood? I used white chalk paint. Thank you!

Hi! I wouldn't use wax. They do make a masonry sealer that works. I found an article for you about it! Good luck and stay safe!

Thanks Cynthia!
There are only sealers but those only work for some time ...it is not permanent application .. All what you need to do is to make sure that your fire is small and you will be sod free on the face of fireplace
Thank you Agnes!!

Thank you Kim! This is awesome!
I agree definitely use a masonry sealer, I can attest that it really works great (I would use several coats) and makes it possible to easily clean it later.
Thank you!!
there is really not much you can do for long time .. All wlll be just a temporary fix. Just make sure your fire is not high
Yes masonry sealer! Here is one that would work:

Thanks for the info!
I wouldn't use wax as its flammable. You can also use fireplace paint and peel cleaner periodically to clean it.
Masonry sealer such as this one should work. https://amzn.to/2HESry9
Make sure your flue is working properly or put on a glass door. The door also keeps heat from going up the chimney and wasting energy.

Wax is flammable and it could melt. Seek out a masonry sealer that is meant to withstand heat.
