Hi! Old pillows and a low container, drawer or basket work well. Put on a washable cover and you're all set!
Here's a link with several options to choose from:
Hello. I have made some dog beds using repurposed memory foam bed toppers cut up to fit in thrift store dog bed slip cases. Alternatively you could sell your own dog bed sleeve with or without zipper.
If it’s small dog, you can put a pillow inside a dresser drawer. For larger dog, build a basic box with a removable cushion. Then you can paint or decorate to match your decor.
Hi Hether. You can make a dog bed frame using cardboard or wood (pallet wood). You can glue fabric on to the frame. If you have access to old sofa cushion , cut it to size to fit in the dog bed frame. Regular old pillow inserts could be used if you don't have access to sofa cushion. Put them in a pillow case and fit them down in the dog bed frame. Good luck Hether. I hope you are well.
Use a wooden Crate. Lift it off the floor with Ball Feet, and then add a cushion. You could always cut the front down to allow easy access too.
Here is a dog bed with a pvc frame:

You need a large round pillow case then add stuffing to it you could get fiber fill at michaels crafts
Super fun! I’ve seen a few ideas in Hometalk. Did you try the search bar at the top left?
Hi Hether: Well, depending on the size of the dog, you can use bed pillows. If you are by an Ikea, they have pillows for around $2, or Walmart has cheap pillows, too. If your dog is bigger, then get a couple pillows, pull the stuffing out, sew the cases that the stuffing was in, together on 3 sides, put the stuffing back in, so there are no dips where the 2 stuffings meet, sew the open end together and there's your bed. Then, get some material that's big enough to cover this bed, with about 2 inches wider and about 4 inches longer than the bed, sew the sides together and fold the top down an inch, fold again and sew around the bottom of the fold all around to make a hem. Then, sew Velcro on both of these edges for easy cleaning. I hope this makes sense. Or, watch this video :)
Hi Hether, here are some instructions on making a dog bed. We have 2 large dogs and 4 large dog beds, guess where they sleep, yep, in our bed. LOL
