Homemade Catnip Toy for Cats

Your cats will love this easy catnip toy! Both of my cats go crazy for this, even my grumpy cat who never plays with anything. This is easy to make, and kids can even help make it. They may need some help with the sewing machine, or you can teach them how to sew by hand. Just make sure the stitches will hold so your cat doesn't take it apart.

I added feathers because my cats love them. One of my cats likes to chew feathers, so we always supervise her when she's playing with these toys. My cats don't react to catnip from pet stores or cheap catnip. They like a higher quality catnip. You can get a good quality catnip on Etsy.

Supplies

You will need:

  • 20 tablespoons catnip
  • 4 baby or toddler socks
  • 16 feathers
  • stuffing (optional)
Add Catnip

Start by filling each sock with catnip. You can also add some stuffing for larger socks.

Feathers

Stick 4 feathers in each sock. Omit these if your cat likes to chew on them.

Sew

Sew the ends of the socks shut. I used a machine to make sure that it won't come apart. You can do this by hand, but the machine makes it more secure with the feathers.

Give to Your Cat

Give it to your cat and get ready to laugh. One of my cats rolls on it and licks it. The other one bats it around. Both of them love these easy catnip toys.
