Put molding on the edges. You can use corner's which you can get at HD or Lowes. then you only have to make straight cuts. Glue with Loctite or construction glu, When you paint them you must paint half of the back side so that it does not show up in the mirror.

Hi Patricia: What I did to mine was to glue some fancy molding around the edges. Most home improvement stores have it in various widths and you can either miter the corners or butt end them (not as pretty). If you want to miter them, buy more molding than you need so you can practice making the cuts. You can buy an inexpensive miter box and saw, and they come in very handy for a lot of things. Just be sure to notice how you are putting the wood into the miter box to cut it so that the cuts come out right. It's not that hard and I'm sure you can do it. Also, the molding can be painted and/or stained. Good luck
