Glider/Rocking chair clean?

Lisa
by Lisa

What’s the best way to clean a nursery rocking chair/glider with footstool? My husband’s jeans stained our chair and we want to clean it up if we can prior to new baby’s arrival.

    1

Vacuum the seat cushions, getting as far into any crevices as possible with the attachments, to remove crumbs, dust and other debris that may have accumulated.

    2

Wipe down the glider's seat cushions with baby wipes. Not only do they deliver complementary amounts of soap and water, but the wipes are gentle and any moisture left behind evaporates swiftly.

    3

Create a stain-removing solution of 1 part dish washing liquid to 2 parts hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Mix the solution together without shaking too vigorously.

    4

Saturate the stained areas on the glider and allow the cleaner to sit for five to 10 minutes. Remove any excess formula that may remain on the surface of the cushion with a clean, damp cloth.

    5

Steam clean the upholstery of the seat cushions with a steam cleaner. This will remove dirt and grime that is visible while also sanitizing the fabric and removing allergens.

You can use white toothpaste and a damp cloth on the stains. Try some rubbing alcohol on the stains. Then clean with Murphy's Oil Soap. A 50/50 mix of vinegar and water will work. Dawn dish liquid and a damp cloth.

Hi Lisa, you might try mixing Oxi-Clean with warm water until well dissolved, then use a soft cloth or brush to scrub the blue stained are. That may lighten the stai and then rinse as well as possible with clear water and soft cloth and let dry. Hope this helps!

Hello. I find that using the OxiClean infused spray or aerosol carpet cleaners to be very helpful on upholstery.

I would suggest looking for that the next time you’re shopping.

A new baby, that is so wonderful, so happy for you.

Several good suggestions on how to clean the rocker/glider. If you can't get the stains out, you could reupholster.

Also Scotch Gard makes a good cleaner for automotive purposes, you could look at an auto interior cleaner section of these type of store...Pep Boys, Advance Auto...sorry, that's all that come to mind at the moment, but you get the idea. After a thorough cleaning and drying, you might want to consider a fabric protector made by the same company.

P.S. Hope it is a girl and best to you.

Get a good upholstery cleaner at the auto store. Use a soft brush and vacuum. Then buy some Camp Dry at Academy. It is used for tents and makes a great fabric protector.

yes spot clean. But I would use a handheld Bissell machine. You can spray with a laundry cleaner to spot clean but you will want to spray with water and suck it up. If you get water stains, you will need to make the entire upholstery damp, suck up and brush.

I had a chair that got horribly stained. I tried so many cleaners and then I found this carpet and thought "why not" and it worked.
