Christmas Paper Village DIY

Dollar General had these paper villages with tea-lights. I’ve never spray painted paper so this one will be my first attempt. Wait until you see the end project. It turned out amazing.

Dollartree paper village

This is one of the dollar tree paper villages that they are currently selling. They come with a tealight.

Second style

This is the second style that I found at dollar tree. It comes with a tealight as well.

First step

Your first step would be to put the paper village piece together. Then you would find a box or plastic tablecloth to work on. I did my project outside. You will be using a white spray paint. I did two coats on mine. I did not worry about any runs in the paint. As I have said before this is my first painting project on paper material. Let dry throughly until it is not sticky or tacky.

Second step

I used a product called “flock in a box.” With Flock In a box you will only need a sifter and a spray bottle of water. I am not adding this as an expense because I already own it. I flicked my 7 1/2 foot Christmas tree with it already. You moisten the painted village piece with water first. Then using a sifter you sprinkle on the product. I did this so it would cover all around the house. Then after the sifting, I made sure the coverage was to my liking. I then sprinkled the whole house with water. When doing that part it locks in the flock product. I then brought the houses in and let them dry for 36 hours. You want it to set up hard.

NOTE: You May be able to do this with the spray snow. I have not tested that product.

Last step

After you have completed the Flocking part. It’s time to dress them up. I used mini wreaths And trees from Target as well as silver pipe cleaners from Dollartree. To attach them I used my glue gun. I cut the pipe cleaners to the size and shape I wanted.

Final project

I am happy to say they turned out beautifully. I put the tealight on the bottom open slot. They came with a color changing one that I used inside the church and a plain one that I used in the building.

Pretty

You definitely could add these in for a lovely village scene.

Love the look
