How to improve the laundry room?

You've got lots of potential and it already looks cute. Love those glass jars. Can you put up some floating shelves on that wall the window is on?

Then a nice bright picture or "laundry room saying" to go in the space above the window?

You have a lot of upper wall space. I'd add floating shelves (or regular shelves would be fine) with pretty baskets for your odds and ends.

First, I will say that I prefer cabinets to shelves when possible. I've had both in the laundry room and it's so easy for the shelves to get "junky".

Add a cabinet to the right of the window. Over the window, put a shelf to store things that are needed less often. You can use baskets to give a neater appearance.

To the left, add curtains across the entire wall. That will hide away the items and make it prettier. You should have room for shelves to the left and above the electrical panel. If you don't want to put a curtain across the whole area, mimic on the left what you have done on the right. Hang a large picture over the electrical panel or paint it.

Bring in some color either with paint on the walls or with the curtains.

Utilizing tubs or large baskets to group things together will give you a "decorator" look to hide items to replace open containers like the milk carton.

you could stack your washer and dryer and that would free up more room and we added some open shelving for our laundry room to put things we store in there up and out of the way-

you could also add a hang up rack or plastic storage for the doors to add more storage space they hook on back of the door and will free up some space for you

I would add shelving or wall narrow cabinets by both sides of window and shelving for sure with drying rack by sink ...some shutters , signs ..What a great project to have

You've got a lot of empty vertical space above the appliances that could be put to more efficient use. I would suggest that you purchase a small either expandable or collapsible hang-up rack and mount it on the side right hand wall or on the back wall. Here are some examples.

Definitely if the budget allows, a large cabinet. I had a similar layout and size and felt the space was wasted (like you I keep all my paint and tools in there, we have a garage but I like my own toolbox and craft/diy things) The cabinet made a massive difference. Everything out of sight. The only things I have out are my bottles like your jars. I also put a worktop across the washer and dryer. Just looks tidier. I have a sink between them too. The other thing that makes a difference is pick a fabric and have a window blind (mines only a pretend one) with a couple of other touches such as a pad or runner to store your jars on. I also had 20cm gap down one side of the washer which I just made a simple wine rack style unit with three slots and managed to find some tiny baskets for spare cloths, laundry things (stain removers etc). Either way have fun with it. If it’s anything like mine, it’s the only room in the house that’s just mine so do what YOU want.

A wallpaper, stencil painting, or a fun wall color should set you on the right path.
