How would you create a rustic contemporary vibe on this fireplace wall
We want this room to have a rustic contemporary feel so I need to renovate the mantel, surround and mirror bookshelves. We will be hanging a 65 inch TV above the mantle. What would you do to make the wall the focal point of the room?

Since there's no picture, I'm guessing the bookshelves are wood. You may want to paint them white and distress them with sandpaper - same for the mantle. What is the fireplace surround? Brick could be painted or white-washed.
I would love to see a picture so I could give you better advice.
Unless the room is huge, a fireplace with TV would automatically be the focal point. As for obtaining the vibe, removing the mantel, stone that is sleek, and sticking with black for accents would go a long way.
Not sure what you're starting from since no pic is in your post. Somethings a smooth surface concrete look can be very modern looking and if kept concrete color could look rustic. I agree that particular walll would be the focal point because of the fireplace and TV mounted above. You might also consider painting the entire fireplace area black and the TV would not be as noticeable as such, then do a stainless steel or rusted look mantle.
I sense you meant to share a photo here. Without seeing it, I’d suggest a wallpaper or wallpaper within the bookshelves that has the particular vibe you’re going for. Keep the texture and materials minimal.
Hi! Unifying that wall with a soft color like a creamy ivory will give a backdrop for all your decorating. A soft gray would also give you that. Good luck!

Hi Beth, I love the look of weathered wood you could do real wood, paneling, or even in a peel and stick, it is a real timeless type of look. It really makes a look without a lot of effort.

I ordered some rustic contemporary stickers from Amazon. I am very happy with these. They really look like barn wood also. Read the reviews from other customers who have hands on experience with the product.
Hi Beth, do you perhaps have a photo of your room. It makes it easier to suggest things that will add that rustic touch you're going for.
You can add shiplap to make it more rustic.
