HHow do i freshen up my fridge?

I remove everything - including shelves and drawers and wash everything with hot, soapy water. Throw away any old food and return the rest to your refrigerator. A box of opened baking soda will help absorb odors from food.

FIRST empty it and clean it thoroughly including removing the racks and vegetable bins and wash EVERY INCH of it with dish detergent, walls, ceiling included. Wipe each item off with a wet dish cloth as you put it back in. Keep an open box of baking soda on the door and change it out every 6 months. They are super cheap at the dollar store.

After emptying the refrigerator and taking every drawer, shelf etc. out of it I would put what fits in the dishwasher and give the entire inside a good scrubbing with warm soapy water and then a wipe down with a mix of 50/50 vinegar and water.

Hello. The traditional problem-solving solution is an open box of baking soda in the refrigerator. But before that removing everything and wiping out the shelves and drawers should be considered. I like to use a Lysol solution or straight alcohol to make every make sure everything is disinfected and clean before replenishing the fridge.

Any good household cleaner should work. Turn fridge off and let it warm up befor cleaning, Then put one or two open boxes of baking soda in it.

Getting rid of odor causing foods is a start, then clean, and use baking soda boxes. Most new refrigerators have an air filter. Replace filter if you have one.

Take everything out and wash it with Hot water and a teaspoon Baking soda.. Don't forget the Rubber Seals, Shelves, Boxes and Roof etc.

When cleaning your fridge, be sure to get inside and underneath the folds of the rubber door gaskets and shelf plastic edges. Over time, food drips and crumbs have a way of getting caught inside these tiny areas, which can cause unpleasant odours.

One consideration that is often overlooked is the pan under the refrigerator. It will slide out from the front, it is an overflow for excess humidity. You might want to give that a good cleaning as well as the inside of the refrig. The baking soda in the door works well.

I'd give it a good clean with lysol wipes or an all purpose sprayer with paper towels. I'd clean out anything spoiled or expired. Then, I'd set some open bowls of baking soda in the fridge to eat up the odors.

I clean the coils and pan really well before I clean the fridge. I add bleach to the pan under the fridge to stop any kind of mold or mildew. Then I take everything off the shelf and wash in warm water with Dawn. I have glass shelves, so I then take them out and clean with hot water. Dry off everything and put a box or two of baking soda in the back of the fridge.

My dad had this problem. He liked saving elft overs and didn't seal that well. Whatever you cover items in the fridge with it needs to be air tight. If any air can get in smells can get out.

Hi Diane, the best is to clean it up, wipe all surfaces with damp cloth, then open a box of baking soda and put it in the back of the fridge, change the box once per month and you will never have odors lingering in the fridge again. They even make fridge containers that are meshy on the sides.

I take everything out and wipe with warm soapy water. Keep baking soda in the fridge and swap monthly to absorb odors.

Remove everything and scrub with a sponge. White vinegar will help kill odors.
