Tiered trays are such an awesome way to decorate your home. They’re pretty and elegant and are always eye-catching. The best thing about them is that you can use them as a base for any other kind of decor. By filling the trays with pumpkins and leaves, you’re ready for fall. Throw in some flowers instead, and you’ve got a beautiful representation of spring. In this tutorial, I’ll teach you how to make a totally easy tiered tray, all with materials you can get for super cheap.

Paint the pieces

If you’re like me, you’ll have gotten most of the pieces second-hand. That means they’re probably all in different colors. So take some spray paint and paint the pedestal, candlesticks, and finial so that they’re all matching.

Paint over the wood

Now you’re going to paint over the wood pieces, which, in my case, were the pedestal and finial. Age them down a bit first, then paint them. I used a bright metallic paint called “Bronze Antique.” This will give you that rustic look that most farmhouse tiered trays have.

After the paint has dried, take your biggest pan and flip it over. Put some E6000 on the unpainted side of the wooden pedestal, and stick it to the back of the pan. Then flip it back over, putting some pressure onto the inside of the pan, and let it dry.

Glue the first candlestick

Take one of your candlesticks and add some glue to the bottom of it. Then stick it to the inside of the pan, right in the middle. Now add glue to the top of the candlestick and stick the next-sized cake pan on top of it.

Grab the second candlestick and glue it to the center of the second cake pan, just like before. Then, again, put glue on the top of the candlestick and add on the smallest cake pan. Be sure to apply pressure to help it stick, and make sure everything is centered.

Now take your finial and glue it to the center of the smallest pan, finishing off your last tier. Then wait for it all to dry, and you’re ready to decorate it.

Set it up

Once your tiered tray is dry, take it over to wherever you want to set it up and add whatever decorations you’d like. For fall, I decided to throw in some pumpkins, pinecones, flowers, and of course, a “Hello Fall” sign.

Farmhouse Tiered Tray DIY

That’s it! How easy was that? I’m obsessed with the way this project came out. It’s so adorable and such a fun way to bring the season into my home. It looks great on my kitchen counter, but there are so many different places in my house to put it.
