But if you’ve ever shopped around for one, you know they aren’t cheap. Most come in around $120-$150 each.

And it’s when I was searching for a budget-friendly color blocked or dipped vase that I realized this would be pretty simple to do yourself!

So I found a few vases, grabbed some paint, and got to work.

Wait until you see the outcome!

First things first, you’ll want to gather your materials.

You’ll need…

• Glass vases of your choice. I found these gorgeous vases for mine and pulled from a stash I had at home.
• Chalk paint. I used White Linen and Charcoal chalk paint.
• Painters tape
• Paintbrushes

Once you’ve gathered your supplies, it’s time to get started!

Grab your painters tape and tape around your vases where you want the paint to go.

There is no real rule for this. You can go high, low, or even allow your color block to be oblong.

Once you’ve placed your tape around your vases, use a credit card or your finger nail to press and seal the tape edge that will meet up with the paint.

This will help keep the paint from bleeding underneath the tape, which is very important here so you can get the look you want!

Once your tape is sealed, grab your paint and get to work!

Use a soft bristled brush and give your vase a nice even coat.

If you can still see strokes or some glass, add a second coat once the first one dries.

Then, once you’re finished and while the paint is still a little wet, go ahead and remove your painters tape. This will help keep the tape from ripping off the paint when it’s dry.

The chalk paint will dry with a nice, chalky, matte finish!

And I just love the charcoal chalk paint on these too! Have fun with color!

Once you’ve allowed your paint to dry completely (I simply left mine upside down until they were completely dry), it’s time to have some fun styling your new vases.

And with this, you can’t go wrong!
