This is a cute Dollar Tree ornament idea for little ones who love dinosaurs! Even if your kids don't like dinos, you can easily swap out for another animal. Most of the supplies are from Dollar Tree, so this is an easy an inexpensive craft idea.

My son is obsessed with dinosaurs! He knows all about them. It's hard to find a cute ornament, so I made him one. The ornaments can be hard to find, but you can also get them on Amazon. For the pipe cleaner, you can get pretty Christmas colored pipe cleaner and pom poms in one set on Amazon.

Supplies

  • Red cardstock
  • White cardstock
  • White glue or Tacky Glue
  • Craft pom poms
  • Plastic dinosaur
  • Mini bottle tree
  • Sparkly pipe cleaner
  • Mason jar shaped ornament
  • Faux snow
  • Ribbon
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

Make the Santa Hat

To make the Santa hat, use the bottle of Tacky glue or another circular object about 1.5 inches in diameter on the edge of the cardstock. Trace a half circle on the cardstock with pencil. Then cut out the red half circle.

Finish the Hat

Place the red half circle on the white cardstock and trace it. Cut the whole white half circle and then cut that into a smaller semi-circle about 1/4 inch wide. You should have a rainbow shape.

Glue the Hat

Fold the red half circle into a cone. Use tacky glue or white glue to attach at the seam. Use glue to attach the white part of the hat to the cone.

Attach the Hat

Add a white pom pom on top of the hat with glue. Then glue the hat on the dinosaur's head.

Tree and Dinosaur

Use hot glue to attach the mini tree to the inside of the ornament lid. Then glue the dinosaur on the other side of the lid.

Decorate With Garland

Cut a piece of pipe cleaner 1 1/2 inches long. Bend it to make a curve. Then hot glue pom poms in alternating colors. Use hot glue on the ends to carefully attach it inside the top of ornament. I slid it in and held in place. Use a pencil to adjust it if needed.

Fill With Snow

Turn over the jar. Add faux snow.

Tie Ribbon

Cut ribbon in 12 inch sections. Tie a ribbon on top.
