Any ideas what I can make out of these vinyl fence rails we had left from doing our porch stairs? They are square like!
Hi Sheryl: First of all, I'd put a couple away just in case you need to replace the ones you have :)
Picture frames, poster frames
Hi! Several of my neighbors have vinyl fences, rails, etc. They do get damaged, and can be hard to match after several years. I would pack away several for future repairs. You should be able to use the vinyl just like you would with wood of the same dimensions. Good luck!
Vrohdr has great point on frames-mirrors, quilts, bulletin/memo/ chalkboards too! Someone recently posted on HomeTalk a really neat lamp I'd love to make from cubes, maybe that'd inspire you as well! It was referred to as a minecraft-like lamp. Also, if there are children in your life, you can make them homemade dice or alphabet blocks. I would consider horizontal or vertical garlands if you like the idea of cubing them. You can also create simple shelves, spice racks, office supply or craft supply or kitchen drawer organizers. Make plaques or signs or decorative tray by gluing planks together or consider creating your own indoor or outdoor lattice. Hope that helps!
I agree with saving them for future repairs.
Unless you have quality mitre cutting tools, I would dissuade you from trying to construct frames from these vinyl pieces. It will be very difficult to cut the plastic cleanly to get precise fitting corners without gaps. Another frustrating part of the project will be to try to drill into the plastic to attach mounting hardware without having cracks result.
How about making a lattice to grow vines on?
Make Planter Pot Holders. Use as Bench Backs, Seats, Table, Window Boxes etc.
If you have enough, you could make a cover for your HVAC unit or utility meters.
I would use these to attach decor to them to make a swag for the front door.
you could use them for hanging plants or bird feeders as well
You know what... I'd paint them and stick dried twigs or branches (depending on the size), on one side of each. That way you can get a rustic picture.
I mean, no frame, no board. Just parallels and irregular twigs in between.
I'll try to upload a similar one I made. In my case it was a frame but no need to put four stops
Here it goes!
Brilliant idea! That looks great :-)
They would make a great trellis frame for a growing vine!
i would for sure use it for other projects
