These budget friendly snow globes are made primarily with Dollar Tree items! These are perfect for shelf or mantel decor, gifts for friends and family, or just a fun afternoon craft with children.

Supplies

To make these snow globes you will need some kind of glass votive, festive miniatures, bottle brush trees, faux snow and a base of some sort. I used a wood slice. Wood slices can be found right in your backyard for free! If you do not have any sufficient branches in your yard to utilize, they can also be found for fairly cheap at craft stores and Etsy. You will also need your hot glue gun!

Arrange

The first thing you need to do is decide which miniatures and trees you would like to you. Take note of the size of the opening on your votive, this will determine what will fit in your snow globe. After choosing my miniatures I arranged them on the wood slice to my liking and placed the glass votive over top to make sure it all fit.

Glue

Once you decide on your layout and are positive it will all fit within the glass votive you will proceed to use small amounts of hot glue to secure your pieces to the wood slice. One small dot of hot glue is all it takes!

Add snow

While your glue is drying you can go ahead and move onto the next step. Fill your glass votive with faux snow. I recommend a shallow layer of snow. Approximately two tablespoons worth. If you use too much snow it will bury your miniatures. If you use too little snow you won't get enough ground cover.

Glue the rim

Now that your votive is filled with snow and your miniatures are secured you will apply a coat of hot glue to the rim of your glass votive.

Secure

Leaving the votive right side up you will then turn your wood slice scene upside down and secure it to the glass votive. If you leave your wood slice right side up and tip the votive over to secure, you will have a snowy mess.

Shake it

Once the glue is dry and the votive is secure you can tip it over. This is the fun part. Shake it up! The faux snow will coat your bottle brush trees nicely and it will truly look like a winter wonderland.

Embellish it

I used thin jute twine to add a little embellishment to my snowglobe, it's entirely optional, but an easy way to add a little more detail. If you are gifting these or using them as seat markers you can add a small name tag here as well. I hope you enjoyed this budget friendly craft and feel inspired to make snow globes of your own!
