Hi Howard, there are clips that you can purchase from your local home improvement store that clip onto rain gutters and then the other end clips onto the light string.
Hello. There are plastic gutter clips designs that are very effective. I even use them for wind chimes and wind socks. There should be a design available that would meet your needs.
Hi Howard: Stores sell things especially for hanging lights from your gutters. They are inexpensive and easy to use. Here's a site from Home Depot that has them and you don't need a ladder to put them, or your lights, up.
There are many different styles of Christmas lights. Depending on if the wires are straight or twisted, and if the bulbs are static or screw-in, some forms of mounting work better than others. If you want your lights to shine in a straight line, or if you want the stands clustered, will also partially dictate how they should be mounted. Likewise, there any many different styles of gutters varying in the thickness and depth of the walls.
The challenge will be to find the best kind of clip that matches both your lights and your gutters.
Posting of picture of the light strands that you want to mount would be helpful as then it could instantly be seen what you have to work with.
We always use plastic clips. They are sort of "S" shaped and one side is smaller, hooking to the gutter with the larger pocket side holding the light strand.
