Hi Betty: My son made one for me when he was in the 3rd grade and I still have it :) What he did was he cleaned the lid with vinegar, took the lid and glued some small Christmas items to it using E-6000. Then, he let that dry and painted the inside of the lid white. Glue doesn't seem to want to stick to paint. He then put some glitter in the jar, filled it with water, put the lid back on and there was his snow globe :) Of course I was supervising all the way :) I think, instead of water, you can use baby oil. I have seen people use an old jar, add decorations to the underside of the lid, and thn fill jar with water and glitter.
