Gigantic Christmas Wreath

It all started when I found a kiddie pool out in a neighbor's trash (I was a on a walk-- it's a great idea to take a walk on trash day in my neighborhood!). It was in their trash because their dog had bitten holes into it. But that didn't matter. In fact, I was going to put more holes into it!

Have you seen those gigantic wreaths at Michael's that have a price tag of about $500 or so? Well, I'm about to show you how to make one for, oh, maybe $5 or $15.....

I began by spray painting the pool red.

Then I added some Christmas garland that somebody threw out when they were moving.

I held it in place by poking some of the branches through holes, then curling the end of the wire so that it couldn't fall back through the hole.

Here is the semi-finished wreath hanging on my fence. It would look nice enough to leave it plain like this, but I wanted to add some more to it.

So I added some wide ribbon, some glitter silver Merry Christmas signs, curly ribbon, and silver snowflakes (all bought at a discount from Christmas clearance sales). I also added some huge pine cones that were given to me. I used the bendable wire of the garland to hold them in place.

And here is my finished gigantic Christmas wreath! Did I mention how light it is?
