Here is how to make a DIY fur ball! I used them like "Snow balls" for Christmas tree ornaments but they could also be on keychains. So many possibilities! See this DIY and more on my blog.

Cut a circle from faux fur. Your ball will end up about half the size of the circle. Trace something like a glass or bowl for a nice round circle. Use needle and thread to sew in and out around the circle.

Pull end of thread to tighten and form a bowl. Stuff with stuffing or cotton balls. Once stuffed, pull thread to tighten and take needle and thread in and out over the top to sew the hole closed.

Tie an additional piece of thread on in a loop and use needle to attach to ball. Make this long enough to use as a hanger.

Repeat this process until you have enough to use on your tree! I made about 20 to use as filler ornaments. They are very lightweight so they are perfect for small or ends of limbs.
