DIY Tree Collar

Tree skirts are a thing of the past, especially when you have cats that like to dive into them and ride them like surfboards. Tree collars are taking over, but they can be expensive! I decided to put one of the many Amazon boxes i have lying around to good use and make one myself! Follow along as I show you how you too can make an expensive looking tree skirts for free!

You'll only need a few things for this easy project; a box, scissors, tape, and wrapping paper of your choice!

First, you'll want to cut off each top flap of the box.

Once you have removed each top flap, you will need to measure out your wrapping paper. You should do this like you do any other gift you're wrapping. Cut your wrapping paper to size.

I won't lie, I was winging this part. I choose a corner and I pulled the wrapping paper flush to the box. I folded the excess top of the paper inside of the box and tapped it.

Repeat this process on each corner, until you have two sides of paper that resemble a traditional package.

I then folded the wrapping paper until it was the shape in the photo above. I then took the excess paper on top and folded it over and into the box. I then taped it. This took multiple folds and many pieces of tape. I made sure everything was secure and tight.

Like so! Make sure the top of the box, which will be visible, looks nice and crisp.

I then folded the bottom pieces of paper up, like a traditional wrapping. Fold the edge into the box and tape.

The box should look like this. The inside isn't pretty, but that's okay! I just want the sides to look nice!

Place your tree inside and enjoy! I made this box for a small 4ft tree that I got as a gift. The tree came with a small skirt that just wasn't my style, so I wanted to use this pretty white birch paper to make a fun statement! I hope you enjoyed this fun, simple, and free DIY!
