Shower draining slow?

It's likely hair and build up in your drain. Pick up one of those plastic drain cleaners that look like a long stick of plastic with pointy bits that look like rose thorns. After you use that, pour some baking soda in the drain then vinegar, let it sit then run some hot water.

Pour one-half cup baking soda into the drain followed by one-half cup white vinegar; the fizzing and bubbling reaction helps to break up small clogs. Block the drain using a small rag so the chemical reaction doesn't all bubble up out.

It's probably clogged with hair. Use a plastic drain snaking tool to clean it out, then get a hair strainer for your drain. We use one and never have a problem.

Hi Vernese. Plugged drains in showers are usually caused by hair and soap scum. But there are always exceptions to the rule. A couple months ago our shower was draining slow. It turned out to be two disposable razor covers. (My son shaves in the shower.) I recommend using a drain snake first. A drain snake is a very long thin piece of plastic with small teeth running down its length. You push it down in the drain as far as it will go. And then pull it back out while turning it. The teeth will grab on to the soap and hair as you turn it. And you can pull it out this way. Continue working with it until you have removed the entire plug. If hair and soap is not the culprit, you can do what my husband did and remove the metal access piece. He used a coat hanger to fish out the razor covers. It was a long and tedious process trying to bend the hanger to reach and remove them. Good luck Vernese. Happy Holidays.

Hi! If the hair is further down, you may need chemical intervention. I dislike chemicals, but, keep a small bottle of Draino for emergencies. Follow the directions on the label. They even make one specific for hair clogs. As maintenance, use a hair grabber at least once or twice a month. Good luck and stay safe!

Try removing the drain cover and using a drain snagging tool to pull any hair out if possible. It looks like a long plastic rod with little barbs along the edges and it grabs hold of hair in the drain. After that, pour about a cup of baking soda into the open drain, then 2 cups of white vinegar. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then flush with warm water. If that doesn't help it, try using a commercial drain cleaner like Drano.

Oh dear, what we discovered was a hair problem in the drain, to remove that we had to use chemicals because it was so far down, sigh, we resorted to Drano and it worked. But, importantly it did not address the cause. Go to the Dollar store and get a multipack of drain strainers to collect the hair at the initial site, it is well worth the $1 investment. you get a multi pack to fit where they fit.

Normally, this is due to an accumulation over time of soap, body oils, and hair. You can try this:

Remove as much as possible with a snake or drain cleaning tool. Pour ½ cup baking soda then ½ cup white vinegar in the drain and cover, letting sit for 20 minutes. Boil water, remove cover, and pour water down the drain. You may have to repeat the process.

I've also used Zep drain cleaner which is safe for pipes and septic systems.

There is probably hair stuck. Get one of those drain snakes and get all the hair out.

Time to clean the hair out first, Dollar Tree has a little plastic drain snake with barbs all down it to trap the hair..... get some paper towels to clean it off, and a plastic bag to throw the paper towels into..... gunk!

Unscrew the bottom drain and use a drain and use a drain cleaner like this one https://amzn.to/36KvHHr. It pulls out all the hair and yuck from the drain. Don't look at it too closely, what you pull out is gross!

These fishing type barbed tools ( mine is from dollar tree) to remove obstruction.

Particularly shower and bathroom drains that are impacted by hair or shaving debris. Hope you solve your drain troubles.

It could be because it is blocked up with hair! Inspect the drain and use a bent HAIR PIN TO TRY TO CLEAN IT OUT!
