This was such fun and simple DIY. Very budget friendly. Less then $15

These turned out so pretty!

Supplies:

  1. Clear ornaments (Dollar tree or micheals)
  2. A few different shades of brown paints
  3. Paint brushs
  4. Baking powder
  5. Cup of water and paper towel
  6. Spray paint if you want to paints the lids

I didn’t end up using the pearl white, and just used a reg white. Michael’s was slim pickings this trip.

Any baking powder will do. You sprinkle it over the paint so once it dries it doesn’t scratch. Your ornaments will last much longer and will look Terra-Cotta looking depending on how you paint them.

Start with a small about of paint. It tries fairly quickly.

Just lightly sprinkle the baking powder of the the paint and mix.

All the ornaments needed two coats

Only half of these have the second coat. The top right one need to be blended better with the second coat.

I just hung them with fishing wire I found at Walmart and clear tacks.

Do you think the finish on the outside will hold up if you want to re-use these ornaments again next season? Wondering if it would make an interesting and less potentially damage-prone look by putting the mixture on the inside of the clear ornament and swish it around to see what kinds of effects you could get - maybe full coverage or maybe more "avant garde" sorts of streaks.

I absolutely love the way you’ve decorated around your fireplace with these little beauties ❣️ Although we no longer have a fireplace I’m sure I can find a way to do something similar, it’s simply beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. Love the natural earthy feel that it brings❣️❣️❣️❣️
