Repurposed Cutting Board and Rusty Grater

Today I am joining two thrift store items to make a one of a kind photo/recipe holder. A wooden cutting board and a rusty grater was use for this project.

First I started by giving both pieces a good cleaning with hot soapy water.

Then the cutting board received two coats of white chalk paint on both sides. The rusty grater was left as is. Love the rust!

Next, I place the grater in position on the cutting board and marked off eight spots where I will be drilling eight holes to attach the grater to the cutting board.

Once I drilled the eight holes the grater was attached to the cutting board with some wire. A coat hook was attached to the back of the photo/recipe holder with wood screws. This way the photo holder can stand on its own.

I made a few magnets for holding the photos or recipes in place by gluing different buttons onto the back of a magnet. That's it for my repurposed cutting board and rusty grater photo/recipe holder. Hop on over for complete step by step photos.

I really like how your magnet board turned out. Perfect for me to do plus I have already have everything. Thanks for the idea. Just a quick tip for free magnets-I cut out the magnets from my cheap shower curtain liners when they need replacing. They are great to use when crafting homemade magnets.
