How do you patina brass or copper?

3 Tablespoons White Vinegar (5%)

1 teaspoon table salt

Stirred very well until the salt dissolved completely.

Let the copper soak for 30 minutes.

Removed the copper and let it dry.

Or you can buy rub and buff at a hobby store such as Michaels or Hobby lobby. Easy peasy.

I agree with the above... If you want to change the colour, Rub n Buff is great! You squeeze a little onto a cloth and then rub it on the plate. It comes in a ton of different colours too.

Hi Pat. Soaking copper in white vinegar and salt (the more salt the more aggressive the patina and speed) will create a blue or green patina. Other ways of ding this are to bury the copper in sawdust or crushed potato chips soaked in white vinegar. The longer the copper is buried, the darker the patina becomes. Hi! If it's sealed, you'll want to remove the sealer first. A spray bottle of vinegar should do it. Another option is to apply a dark wax to it. Stay safe!

You could soak in Vinegar, Rub on Salt, Use a liquid shoe polish to tone it down for quickness. Try on reverse first if you can.

Acid of some sort will work. Vinegar, lemon juice, ketchup etc

You can scuff and add a patina product. I’ve seen them at big box stores. I’ve also seen projects where they shed with paint.
