DIY Vintage Sheet Music Windows

I had two very large windows that I had picked up at an antique shop for a steal and hung on either side of my faux fireplace in my dining room. However, they were too plain because of their large size. I gathered 3 vintage sheet music books I had laying around and decided to try to make something with them.

I grabbed the sheet music books and a can of clear adhesive spray that I had on hand.

I started by removing the sheet music from the books and laying them out sheet by sheet.

I then placed them right side down on the back of the window, and lined them up how I wanted them to be. I didn't measure this out, I just eyed it and made sure they were all approximately the same width apart.

Then one by one, take a piece of sheet music, and spray the front of it with your clear adhesive spray. This solution is sticky so spray it over a trash bag or something to protect your floors.

Place the sheet music back down onto the back of your window, right side down again. And repeat until you're done. Then flip your window up, and you have the finished product!

I love how they turned out so much, and the clear adhesive spray dries so that you never even know it's there! I've had so many people ask me about these windows when they see them, and they are a great conversation piece!

We hung them back up on either side of the fireplace, and they just add so much more detail to this space! You can visit my blog post here to see more photos of this space!

I am going to do this with my favorite parts of books. Great idea. Thanks for the inspiration.

Ps. I won't ruin my books prob print on antique colored paper. I don't have the heart to hurt my books. 😃

    • Hehe, I kind of felt the same way but you just couldn't see the sheet music in the books anyways and they were falling apart. You could also tea stain some older books from goodwill for a vintage look!
