Boho Ornaments From Curtain Fixings

Our house is so much warmer, as we have just had new windows fitted. I like to repurpose almost everything and find it hard to throw stuff out. So I have kept some of the old windows for future projects, like my very popular window herb garden. When we changed the windows, we also changed the curtain fixings too, which I managed to repurpose into fun Boho decorations.

I had lots of curtain fixings, from finals to curtain rings.

First, I glued some of the curtain fixings and finals together to make ornament shapes.

I then painted these wooden shapes with several coats of paint, each in a different color.

I wanted a distressed look with paint from different layers showing through.

I added some gold powder and wax to give them a nice sheen.

One of the ornaments I even decoupaged in paper napkins.

With the curtain rings, I made Dorset buttons, which are a bit like mini dream catchers.

The center of the buttons was woven.

Using eyelets the woven curtain rings were added to the painted curtain finals to complete my Boho ornaments. You will find more details on the blog. I made these for Christmas originally but they will stay up all year round.
