How to make lemon peppermint wax brittle with essential oils and soy wax. These are similar to wax melts, but they are easier to make without a mold.
I prefer to use essential oils to scent my home naturally. I used lemon essential oil and peppermint essential oil for their aromatherapy benefits. Both are uplifting, so I like them on these long winter nights. I use Simply Earth essential oils.
I also added some herbs. I used lemon zest and peppermint. I used fresh peppermint because I made a small batch that I'll use right away. If you aren't going to use it all in a few days, then use dried herbs so they don't spoil. You could also store them in the fridge in an airtight container.
Melt 1 pound of soy wax in a double boiler. Once it's melted, remove from heat and let cool to 125 degrees. I use a laser thermometer to check the temperature. Add 0.5 to 1 ounce essential oils and stir well. Then pour into a parchment paper lined baking sheet with sides. Add herbs to the top if desired. Let cool completely.
Once it's set up, break up the wax to make a wax brittle or wax bark. Then use one or more pieces in a wax melter when you want to scent the air in your home. Be sure to click over to the original blog post for more tips and ideas.
