How do I paint my foundation and wha color?

Hi Deb, I would personally paint it white or cream to match your trim. You can get some great paints for bricks now and your local home improvement store should have some.

Deb, I would paint it an even darker grey than the siding to "gound" it and then a very light "whitewash" of the bricks. That could be a beautiful backdground for any planting you do in the future.

You will want to get a paint made for brick to ensure good adhesion. The color depends if you want it to blend in or stand out - you're call.

Nice home, I would do a lot of research on painting brick once painted it is very hard to remove and it may cause interior problems unless you protect it with a sealer but I am not a professional on painting brick but have read a lot of things on it. I would want to paint it or cover it with something because it would look better. I just know that you should not paint your brick chimney or interior brick inside your home it may lower your home value or turn buyers away. It would look nice but you do want you want to do just ask or do some research on it so your happy when it is done.

Please trust me when I tell you you want to stain your brick not paint it. Stain will soak into the brick and will not flake off. We stained our brick home and 11 years later when we moved the stain was still as good as new. We lived in an area that had freezing in the winter and 100 degrees in the summer. Paint will eventually flake off.

Choose a high quality masonry stain. It will probably take two coats. You can have it tinted any color you want, but with your house on a hill and the large amount of foundation, consider going a shade or two darker than the color of your home to anchor your home to the ground. If you go light like your trim, your house will look like it's floating. To apply the stain, get several of the thickest nap rollers available for using on masonry. These will flatten out as you use them so switch to a fresh one every so often. Also get a high quality thick brush to use in areas the roller won't reach. Don't roll or brush near the dirt until you have gone all the way around or you will get debris in you stain and carry onto the next section. When you start working near the bottom, be careful not to dip your brush back into your stain can or you will contaminate it.
