Steaming sheer curtains panels

I’m planning on removing all the blinds in my home with sheer curtain panels. But I’m not looking forward to ironing all those panels! I’ve never used a steamer....will this work for sheers? Also, could someone recommend a good steamer for this job? Thank you!

Hi Chriss, a steamer will work well. I have also found that if I wash sheers on the gentle cycle and then hang them up while they are still wet, it greatly reduces the wrinkles as they dry. Gravity pulls them down and you can smooth them out with your hands after you get them hung (while they are wet). Sheers dry really quickly so they will be dry in no time and have a lot fewer wrinkles this way.

Yes, a hand held steamer works well, but you may not really need it. Wash on gentle/delicate cycle, remembering not to put anything in the washer that may snag them and remove immediately after the cycle finishes. Immediately remove and hang up ( I go to the clothes line) for this. Smooth them out and if there is a gentle wind that helps.

  • Yes, a steamer will work just fine. They're very easy to use, just be careful not to steam yourself as that hurts. Most any steamer will be fine, they all operate the same, it just depends on what type will work best for you.

Hi Chriss, you can spot treat the sheers while they are hanging with a spray bottle full of water, spray the wrinkles and they will fall out as they dry. Throw them in the wash on gentle and hang to dry, Or use any steamer to release wrinkles while they are hanging

    Use a fabric steamer

Yes, a fabric steamer will work well; however, if you don't want to invest in a steamer, throw a couple of panels in the dryer with a wet towel for a few minutes, remove and hang, then do another set the same way. Much quicker than steaming!

Hello I use the dryer and wet towel as well. Some dryers even have a steam function.

What is the fabric content of your sheer curtains?

If they are made from polyester, they should not require ironing after being laundered. Do not put them in the dryer. Simply hang to dry, and the weight of the fabric hanging down should help any creases they had when wet, disappear.

If you dampen them (quick rinse cycle works) and hang them they will be straight for you. Stay safe!

You could wash and then dry with the wrinkle release on
