I enjoyed “How we completely overhauled our guest bathroom on a budget “ l was overly concerned about the electrical outlet in the bathtub/shower area. Could it be placed on the opposite side of the mirror for safety reason?

You would need to go to the original post to ask a question or comment

    Joyce

We do not have info on posts you see so go back to that post and ask your question there. And as far as electrical outlets, you could place them wherever you wanted them

  • It sounds like you're asking about a specific project, Joyce. You'll need to go to that project to ask your question, but I think I found the link for you:

Please mail the person who posted the project you have a question about. This is a public forum and we have no way of knowing which project you are referring to. Thanks!

To answer your question, Yes, any electrical outlet can be repositioned almost anywhere else in the room.

Two main factors that usually determine the cost and the work involved in doing this are:

1/ if there is enough physical space within the walls (without hitting HVAC, other pipes, etc.) to mount the electrical box in the exact new location desired.

2/ if there is adequate length of wire from the old location to the new location to connect the wires. If not, then a new additional junction box will have to be installed, or a new longer length of wire will have to be 'fished' through the walls connecting the new plug location to the panel or to the junction box.

For further details referring to the particular project you are enquiring about, go back to the project, scroll down, and ask your question again where it says ask question. That way it will go directly to the individual who posted the project.

Most any outlet can be moved anywhere, it's just a matter of expense/cost to do so. Maybe best to ask the question on the specific post you saw to help alert the person to the possible danger you mention.

While you’re moving the outlet, it needs to be a GFCI outlet within 24” of any water. As in any faucet or tub/shower.

    Hello Joyce,

Yes, but you would need to be able to extend the cable. If you are not qualified to do it, call in an electrician to do it for you. (Better to be safe than sorry)!

Yes, it could be moved. I would do that.
