Clean with TSP. Remove all hardware and place in a sealed container. Label doors and drawers on the inside with numbers and correspond the numbers inside the cabinets using painter's tape.
Priming and using a good cabinet paint that is self leveling. Spray rather than brushing is the best method.
Depending on the current finish, you will most likely have to sand and remove any finish/sealer that is currently on them before you begin.
The most important step is the prep. Make sure they are sanded well, perfectly clean, and then use a maximum adhesion primer like Bondz from Zinsser. An enamel paint works well. But for my next kitchen paint job I plan to use Fusion mineral paint.

Hello Marcia,
Depends on whether you want to paint or Stain or Wax? I always paint the inside panel first on the inside of the doors, just in case I change my mind about the colour or product! Then the outside frame. Once all are done, do the same with the outside of cabinets, one door at a time! Then if I want I do the End Panels and then the framework.
Best of luck!
The key is cleaning them well before beginning. Here's a link with the steps to take:

Hi Marcia. When I read your question I automatically thought of Beyond Paint. It's a new product on the market. It eliminates any sanding, stripping, or priming. And it combines primer, sealer, and finisher. It's a bit pricey. Just another option. Good luck Marcia.

We've done it, but the most important step is the prep. If you don't remove all the dirt and grease the paint won't stick.
