I have an off-the-charts comfy reclining sofa that needs recovering?

I have for years been looking for a stretchy cover to fit over our old reclining 2 seater-sofa. Mechanically this thing is solid, it's just that the leather seating and back is done in. To have it professionally redone is more that we paid for it and it is too comfortable to toss. Sewing is not my strong suit so I am now seeking wise counsel. Thanks

Look around for a GOOD fitted cover. I saw some one QVC a while back so you might start there. I will say that keeping a cover on a recliner is the hardest thing ever.
If you can't find a high end that really works, then throw a pretty quilt over it and call it a day.

Coco, I shasre you pain! I have searched for years for slipcovers to cover my two reclining chairs and haven't located any that will fit on any website. I haven't tried this yet myself but I plan to use nice-looking throws and use upholstery pins to hold them in place. I believe I'll need three large throws to cover the two reclining chairs, so maybe you could use throws to cover the worn leather parts of your sofa by using the upholstery pins. They are a little like a miniature corkscrew and can be purchased online or in craft store like JoAnn's. Good luck!

You could try Surefit slipcovers. I haven't tried it on a large sofa, but I recovered a chair partially using iron on webbing and it's been years and holds up great. I got the idea from someone who recovered a chaise here on Hometalk. Hello. I would consider trying one is those stretchy microfiber covers.
I have found in some situations putting a pool noodle in the sofa crack on top of the the slip cover help stabilize the slip cover tightly and securely in place. I’m not too sure how the reclining future might affect this. I tend to do this with my dog beds on the spare couch is too. It might be worth testing this technique with a bedsheet and see ....if it could .....help make a more custom fitted cover for your situation
