Mother of All Charging Stations

Hands up if you are sick of laptops, phone, Ipads and any other handheld electronic device lying around waiting on the floor to trip you up? Definitely me!! As you can imagine with 10 kids in the house it all adds up to a lot of devices. So I decided to fix that problem once and for all by making a charging station. Not just a little charging station to plug in a mobile and a laptop but a mother of all charging stations that can charge a few at a time as-well as housing all the other computers etc ready for charging.

I started by buying this cute little fold down desk from Facebook marketplace. The fact that if could fold back up and hide away everything was perfect so that I didn’t have to keep looking at the mess of millions of devices.

I decided to use chalk paint as I love its forgiving coverage, the fact that I didn’t have to sand and of course the beautiful finish it gives. I chose to use Jolie paints for this project as I had heard great reviews on it. It did not disappoint.

I cleaned my desk and took off the existing handles to prep it. Then I started painting. I used three coats.

After the three coats I sanded away all the corners to give it the old farmhouse look that I love. I then used the Jolie wax to give it a protective coat.

I painted the existing handles because they were just so perfect for the piece!

I loved it already!!

BUT I needed to make a few adjustments to make it work for my charging station. I drilled a hole big enough to fit a power cord through the back of the piece and another hole to fit it through to the tabletop. This would allow me to have power in the desk.

It has plenty of room for everything, and drawers for all the accessories that come with devices (other power cords, earphones, spare cases etc).

I love that I can close up the desk when not in use and I don’t have to see all the devices. Perfect!

Where are the pictures of the end result? I would have liked to see some devices in place, being charged. That being said it is all a great idea, but I wanted to SEE.
