We are remodeling a small bathroom. How do we find the best vanity that would provide storage? I am getting overwhelmed. Thank you

    - Decide what items you are wanting to store in the vanity.

This does not necessarily have to be exactly the same items that you presently have in your vanity or under the sink now. Think about what works best for your household and the individuals using the bathroom on a daily basis.

Some vanities have cupboards which are more suitable for taller items and larger spray cleaning bottles. Some vanities have more smaller drawers, which are more suitable for small toiletries, cosmetics, and first aid items. Drawers that are deeper and wider can accommodate folded towels.

You mentioned that it was a small bathroom.

If you would really like a little more floor space, then choose a vanity that has a shallower depth, rather than a conventional depth. You will loose a couple of inches of interior storage space, but will gain more toe room.

Wayfair.com has a huge selection of smaller vanities. You are sure to find something that suits your space.

I would go into a home depot or lowes just to see what they have style wise that fits your criteria for storage, space, etc then you can decide where you want to buy it -that way you know if it will fit your space and your storage needs (take a tape measure with you to be sure )

Well first you need to measure and see what space you have for a vanity. Then once you have those dimensions - I'd head to Lowes or Home depot or any other local store that carries them (even bargain outlet!) and see what they have in those dimensions and pick the one you like the best in terms of storage. Usually there are one large cupboard and 2 small drawers - but you could also have one with open storage that you could put baskets in.

First you have to have dimensions and depth. Then go window shopping at Lowes, Home Depot, on line or go to Habitat for Humanity, they sometimes have vanities at a very good price. Decide whether you want drawers, or just a cabinet. I have 2 drawers and feel the need for them . The drawers can be on the top or down the sides, etc. Figure out what you want to put in the vanity. You will need space for the plumbing. If you want shelves, buy them after you purchase the vanity, there are just too many sizes.

  • I think I would go one with the best storage options AND that will fit in your bathroom and not over power it.

Basically it depends on you style and how you plant to remodel the bath. Check online or go shopping and see what you like and appeals to you

Something else to think about when choosing a vanity is the quality. If it is going to be a bathroom vanity that is used on a daily basis, resist the temptation to go for the lowest priced one.

Often lower price for similar design equals lower quality. Cheap vanities that are poorly assembled frequently have a cardboard-like backing that is not sturdy enough to support the counter top and sink, and has less cross supports in the frame, causing warpage during the installation stage. Soft close doors are found more often on the higher priced units.

I would go with the largest one you can fit in the space. For the under sink area, add an adjustable shelf unit that works around the pipes. The baskets on the shelves for a great deal of organized storage.

First find out what size you can fit in your space. Size will limit the storage, so maximize the size as best you can..

    Thank you

  • We just did this and we ended up keeping the old vanity because it fit the space best and had the most storage. Also, it fit around the pipes well. So we decided to update what we had instead, plus it was cheaper. You can peek if you like. https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2019/07/updating-an-old-bathroom-vanity.html
