DIY Shiplap Wall Frames With Interchangeable Artwork
If you saw my previous two posts, you'll know we recently renovated our home office and my daughter's bedroom. As part of the renovation of my daughter's room, I had also completed a makeover on a solid wood desk we purchased from Facebook Marketplace. I had painted the desk white, and since my daughter's other bedroom furniture is a cherry wood coloring, I decided it would be good to have some artwork hanging over my daughter's bed that matched the desk. I had some shiplap scraps remaining from the home office remodel project, and figured those would be perfect for creating some new wall art for my daughter's room.

To start, for each frame I was building, I cut three lengths of shiplap to the size I wanted. I then used wood glue to attach them together.
I then used 1x2 boards to build a frame around the shiplap panel.
I sanded any rough edges on the frame and any imperfections on the surface of the shiplap. I then painted the shiplap and frame bright white.
Once the paint was completely dry, I adhered a robe hook to the top center of the top board.
Next, I added a picture hanger on the back top of the frames (make sure the picture hanger is adhered on the same top as the robe hooks on the opposite side).
Once the shiplap frame and backing was complete, it was time to create the canvas artwork to hang on the frame! I chose canvas panels and heat transfer vinyl (HTV) and infusible ink, along with my Cricut Maker, to create inspirational artwork for my daughter's wall.
First, I found some SVGs with inspirational saying and quotes that I thought would be nice for my daughter to wake up to every morning. Once I found the SVGs I wanted, I cut the HTV and the infusible ink sheets with my Cricut.
I used my Cricut Heat Press to adhere the vinyl onto the canvas boards. I did the same process for the Infusible Ink designs, as the infusible ink also works on canvas (I just had to adjust the heat press settings to the correct temperature for the heat press).
Once the designs were adhered on the three signs I was making, I then created a method to hang the canvas panels from the rope hook on the front of the shiplap frame.
I used my Cricut pokey tool to poke two holes, one right above the other, near the top of the canvas board at the same spot on the left and right side of the canvas panel. Once holes had been made, I threaded the thin wire through the holes on each side, and then twisted the wire together on the back side of the canvas panels to hold the wire
Once the wire was attached to the canvas panel, I hung the shiplap frames on my daughter's wall above her bed.
Using the metal wire now attached to each canvas art board, I then hung the canvas artwork from the robe hook on each shiplap frame/backing. My daughter now sees inspirational sayings and quotes when she wakes up each morning or when she walks into her room throughout the day! What better way to start each day than with a happy or positive thought!

This is such a fantastic way of decorating any room in the house. You could also use stickers from the craft store and modge podge over them as well. Love this idea.

LOVE these. This is a great way to frame a beach themed painting. I often paint on canvas board like this and it would be great to be able to switch out the paintings... maybe I'll create different ones for each season and rotate them
