You could paint it
Hi Racie, here's a bunch of ideas, one of which may inspire you. Color block painting is also an option for a quick modern change up of an old file cabinet.

You could update it with peel and stick wallpaper, like they sell at Target: https://youtu.be/ODTm52QA-Tk
This is a way to update a filing cabinet with chalk paint: https://youtu.be/schA8qxZlUs
You could also add faux molding by adding picture frames to the front: https://pin.it/3rkBpgh

Turn Metal File Cabinets Into Kitchen Cabinets
Old Metal File Cabinet Makeover
Before you start spending money trying to transform the filing cabinet, I would suggest that you take a good search through its contents and ask yourself, how much of the stuff inside do you really still need to keep. Perhaps some papers could be gleaned out and shredded, and you could get by with a smaller unit?
I have painted some by scuffing with steel wool, wipe with denatured alcohol, then spray painting.
You can also use chalked paint but it does scratch off easily.
Contact paper is another option.
I’ve seen loads of file cabinet ideas on Hometalk. Use the search bar at the top left and you’ll get tons of inspiration.
