It’s more black than the picture shows.
How do I fix this table?
I love my table but it’s showing wear and tear. Turns out it’s nothing more than a particle board made to look like wood but I would like to keep it if I can restore it to its former glory.
The table is as black as the chair legs but with a grey showing through.

Hello Michele,
What colour is it? If Black you could try using Liquid Black shoe polish or Coloured Wax or maybe black acrylic paint brushed on, or re surface the whole table!
Painting particleboard will help you save money by eliminating the need to buy new furniture, and it can add more personality to an existing piece.

If you'd like to repaint, here's how:

You can paint it. Use a roller and paint made for cabinets.
I would try Old English furniture stain. Easy to wipe on and off. Get it at Lowes or HD and probably Amazon.

Give the table a good cleaning and a light sanding. Remove any dust and apply a good primer. You may want to use a foam roller for a smooth finish. After the primer dries, apply latex paint in the color of your choice. Seal with polyurethane. Keep in mind, though, polyurethane tends to yellow over time and may show on a light color.
Thank you all so much. I appreciate your help.
My table looks great!! I sanded and applied an acrylic black that I then sanded again with a 320 grit. The base colour, a grey came through, then I added a drop of black paint to the polyurethane and applied with a foam roller.
Thank you so very much 😘
Hi, you can spray paint the entire table top and sides grey, then once dry, you can paint on the black and wipe off, this should help give it a two tone look, repeat until it is the color you want.

i would just wipe it with stain like wipe that you can purchase on Amazon .. they do have those in all colors https://amzn.to/3r7uOQL
You can always give it a fresh coat of paint with a good sealer afterwards.
