This would be better posted at the end of the project you saw. But in general, if you are using them as a planter, I dig down the area so that it is level. I also keep plants in their original pot and drop it inside the block.

I don't know what specific project you're referring to - but it sounds like landscape fabric would be the right thing to keep soil with cinderblocks.

  • Hi there. Without knowing what post you are specifically interested in, it's hard to tell. If you're referring to this post, they put the pots in the cinder block...not dirt directly in block. Otherwise you could line the holes with plastic.

  • Not sure which project you're referring to, but lining it with landscape fabric should do the trick.

Please contact the person who posted the project you are questioning. This is a public forum and without more detailed info we can only guess.

  • I would place it where you want it and then use some pebbles at the bottom, then you can fill a little with dirt, then place the flowers in and fill with dirt around the flowers.

Hi there, you can place plastic bags inside the cinder block openings to keep the soil inside. Remember to poke a few drainage holes in the bags first before adding your plants

If on solid ground the soil will stay in!
