I don’t know about you but I hate the ugly pot holders in the stores so I decided to use some scrap fabric and make my own. These instructions are for a sewing machine but I think you could use fabric glue as well.

Best heat resistant lining!

Make your own pot holders with h eat resistant lining that Amazon reviewers swear by!

I chose scraps that match and of course are neutral.

I just grabbed a stack of cream colored felt from Joanne Fabrics so that is the only cost involved in this project.

Start by folding right sides together of your fabric then place two sheets of your felt on top.

Trim off excess fabric. I placed red dots on the felt to show you where to see. Leave an opening large enough to put your hand in and pull right side out once sewn.

Make sure you pin all four layers together before seeing so that your layers don’t shift.

Turn right side out.

Fold in your opening, pin, and see shut.

I then Sewed through all four layers in a swirly pattern to give it a quilted look.

Once I did the rectangle shape hot pad I got a little more daring and went for a heart shape. This one is actually my favorite.

I like the way the quilting turned out on the heart.

I added a ribbon loop so I can hang it up.
