How to build a outdoor deck ?

I've not used those but my SIL did for his parents. He was told to place them 6" into the ground. The recommendations I have seen show no more then 5' apart.

Before you do anything, check your local building code. And if attached to a structure, there are specific rules to follow. Here are a couple of non dig options. Just be careful, your family and friends will be at risk if not constructed properly.

You may want to check with building codes in your area first. Using blocks and not digging below the frost line will cause future problems.

Generally speaking, anything over 30" inches off the ground requires a permit no matter what the size. It will be subject to your town's deck building code. And, while a freestanding structure (not attached to the house) is not subject to the same regulations there are special regulations that apply. There are specifications for the stairs as well. If it's ground level, then you are good to go.

If you’re in a hot climate this may work well. But anywhere with freezing will be a challenge. Without footings the ground will heave and make your deck wonky. Sorry.
