Stamped Books

Here are all the supplies you need. Stamps set I got at Michael’s when they were 50% off, an inexpensive stamp pad from the Dollar Store, scissors, twine, ribbon or string and some old books with the front and back covers carefully torn off. I love to find books for sale at the library or thrift stores. They are typically under $1.00 each, even as inexpensive as $0.25. These supplies are reusable and will make many book sets!

When choosing the book that will be on the top of my stack, I like to tear pages until I find one with no words or minimal words that can be hidden at the end with my string. I also like to choose my phrase and lay out my words one at a time so I’m sure not to mess up and misspell something by accident. Also, be sure to start on the right side of the book with your last letter and work to the left. This way you can make sure you have plenty of room and don’t have to worry about running out of space.

Carefully load your stamp with ink and center the stamp as best you can on the spine of the book. Try not to rock the stamp or push too hard or the flat part of the stamp will hit the spine.. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect!

Continue with your next word on the next book. You can make the stack as tall as you want or add multiple words per book for longer phrases.

Once you have your books stamped, it’s time to wrap the books in your string. I found this thicker, two toned string at Walmart around the holidays.

Lastly, after wrapping tie your string in a cute bow or double knot. That’s it!

Simple and inexpensive and only takes a few minutes to diy. I’ve made these as teacher gifts, house warming gifts, wedding shower gifts and have a few stack around my own home!
