Stain from eucalyptus ?

Bathroom wall, flat painted (rental) I had a fake floral arrangement hung on wall, there was eucalyptus in the arrangement and it was supposed to be dried. I just took it down to replace it with a new fake floral piece and found two roundish stains which must have come from the supposed dried Eucalyptus in the arrangement. Is there any way to fix this or does anyone have advice for how to clean walls with flat paint? I would paint but afraid the stain would show through...Help...

From what I've read, the only way to remove the stains is to clean the area first, then prime and repaint. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Hi Linda, unfortunately, it is probably the oil from the Eucalyptus that stained the wall. Have you tried something like a magic eraser just to see if that takes any of it off? If it doesn't, sadly you will probably have to seal the spot (so that that the oil doesn't seep through the paint and then repaint).
I would start by cleaning the wall with just plain water and a sponge or a microfiber cloth in an area where it would not be noticeable to see if the paint is going to streak or smear. Flat paint is the least durable and the most likely to scrub off.
If the stain came off, great, if not, I would take a damp rag with dry baking soda or a solution of baking soda and water and rub gently. You could try a stronger cleaner, but would be very cautious and avoid colored soaps because the cleaner might make an additional stain.
If all of this fails, I would seal the area where the stain is with a primer and repaint.
Since it is an oil stain, I would start with baking soda to pull the oils. Next use a degreaser that is paint safe. Hopefully that will get it off. If it doesn't you can just let them take it out of your deposit (in my experience you rarely get that back anyway).
Try Awesome spray clean from the Dollar store. There isn't anything I have found that can't be removed with Awesome.
I will try the baking soda first then the magic Eraser to see hopefully if these would help.
The only way was to use Klitz, spray the area and then repaint.
The oils soaked all the way into the dry wall making it real tough to remove, and when we tried to clean it, it came back, leaking right back through the paint.
Oh, and I do not put any arrangements on the wall with eucalyptus flowers unless it has a backing to protect the walls (that is me erroring on the side of caution).
