How to cover a footstool?
I have a cloth footstool that is very stained. Any ideas how to cover, or can I paint it?

Hello, Annette,
I would not suggest painting it as it is lightly to get a lot of wear. Best to recover it. Carefully remove the old cover and use it as a template for the new. Lay the new fabric on the stool and staple middle of long side. Turn around and then staple the middle opposite
fist staple making sure the fabric is straight . Repeat this to the short sides. Staple up to the corner. and secure as original was secured. folded or pleated etc. Repeat to all sides and then trim using glue or Studs. Hope that has helped.
I would try removing the cover and washing it. If that doesn't work, get new fabric and recover it.

You might want to consider spraying it with Scotchgard or choosing a fabric that blocks stains.
Hello in the past I have recovered mine. A staple gun is an easy way to attach new fabric. Additionally if the older fabric is severely stained or has an odor removing old fabric might be suggested.

You can likely reupholster it easily. Flip it over or give it a good look to see how the fabric was attached previously. If the stool is wood, you can staple underneath.

Could you reupholster it? See what I did here: https://happydealhappyday.com/reupholster-ottoman-tutorial/
I'd cover it with new fabric, staple in place
Hi! Removing the staples holding the cover in place will give you a pattern to cut your new fabric from. Dropcloth fabric is inexpensive and simple to work with!
If you didn’t re-upholster it yet, I would buy a can of spray upholstery dye from an auto parts store.
take a part .. make a template cut new one and apply
