With decoupaged Easter eggs, there's no boiling of eggs and no messy dye. Just easy and fun decorating!

Let's get started!

You only need a few things to make decoupage Easter eggs:

  • plastic eggs
  • Mod Podge
  • paintbrush (or spongebrush)
  • decorative napkin

The plastic eggs I used came from Dollar Tree. There were 18 in a pack for just a dollar. However, you can get plastic eggs from just about anywhere around Easter.

I chose to use yellow plastic eggs for this project because it's such a happy spring color. I wanted the yellow to show through the napkin in places, too. Feel free to choose any color plastic eggs you want, or paint them white before you begin.

Decorative napkins usually come in layers. Tear the layers apart so that you're just left with the thin top layer with the pattern on it.

Next, rip the napkin into small pieces. You want them small enough to fit onto the plastic eggs.

Use the paintbrush (or sponge brush) to paint a layer of Mod Podge onto the plastic egg.

I like to use a sponge brush for decoupage projects, however, mine were all packed up. The paintbrush worked well, though.

Now that you have Mod Podge on the plastic egg, start adding the napkin strips. I like to overlap the edges all the way around.

After the entire plastic egg is covered with the napkin strips, set it aside and allow it to completely dry.

Once the egg is dry, paint on another layer of Mod Podge to seal everything in.

Let it completely dry.

I ended up making 3 decoupage Easter eggs because they are just so fun!

To decorate with my decoupage Easter eggs, I placed some moss on top of a candle holder I made last year, then placed the 3 eggs right on top of the moss.
