How do i install linoleum flooring?

I found some rolls of linoleum flooring in my garage and would like to install it in a spare bedroom (currently has no flooring). I've never done this before and would like to find out the easiest way to use this type of flooring. It's not the click in type its in a roll... Do I need adhesive? What do use underneath it? Thanks in advance😊

Hello. Does the flooring have a name brand marked on the reverse side? Contacting the manufacturing might be the best idea to consider.

Prep work is essential, as well as cleanliness. Any little dust or sand can telescope through it.
I would talk to the flooring people at Home Depot or Lowes. Floors for LIving could help you too.

Sub flooring needs to be smooth and clean. If it isn't you can put down luan plywood. Make sure you have no nail heads exposed, they will wear a hole in the flooring.
If you don't use adhesive, it will need to be secured around the edges. My husband worked for a company that had a few hundred rental houses and they would just put it down with shoe molding on the edges. Easier to remove down the road. But the most popular method is to use an adhesive.
