Suggestions for fire damage restoration

Hello all! The past two days were so hectic only because of a minor fire break out in our residence. Luckily none of us got injured. The reason for the fire was by mistake the curtains caught fire from the candle which was lit next to it. The room is partly damaged. We are looking for some great damage restoration experts. Can someone suggest a good fire and smoke damage professional?

So glad you made it through a tough time in your lives.

To find someone who does this service very well, you might look to Home Advisors for contractors who can repair the damage. These are licensed professionals.

You could also do an Internet search and look for those licensed in that service, also contact the Better Business Bureau.

You'll need to find someone local. I'd post on nextdoor to find a local rec.

Try Angie's List. I believe it is a free service now. Then verify there are no issues with the Better Business Bureau. If you have a neighborhood group, ask there for good & bad reviews.

Sorry you are dealing with this. As a help until you get a contractor, do some wiping down with OdoBan to help neutralize the smoke smell.

We have no idea what area of the world you live in. Type in fire restoration in your browser and your zipcode. Then look up ratings and call the Better Business Bureau to see what the company ratings and complaints are.

Hello. You need to find some local experts, has your insurance agent been any help? I would think they would be the best experienced and have some ideas of who to recommend. After you get some names you probably could do some further research on ratings and reviews.

  • I would post on a local neighborhood group, Facebook, etc. to look for a trusted professional in your area.

I had $170K of fire damage and used Service Master because they were a direct-pay vendor with my insurance company.

I used a separate fabric restoration company, that SM knew.

SM put air scrubbers in for a week. And I had them put in ozone machines to run though the HVAC ducts after they HEPA cleaned them.

When they shampooed my carpets, I had them use very little heat, as high heat melts the carpet factory glue and makes your carpet get “relaxed” and then it has to be restretched.

Have you checked with Angie's list? They should highlight people for this in your area.

    Hello,

If you have Insurance - make a claim! They will send someone to check it out and advise what to do!

There will be good restoration companies in your area. If going through insurance, they will pick pros.. If you are hiring them yourself, get references, second opinions and quotes, and look them up on the BBB

ServiceMaster is a national company and they did excellent work for me. I suppose it does depend on the local workers, but they likely have good methods in place all of them use. So sorry for your problem but happy no one was inured!

Restoring the room back to normally requires a lot of effort. The fire and smoke damage professionals are well experienced in handling this type of issue. But there are different restoration services available locally. Try to find the right one fit for your service, look up the ratings and reviews of the company. Use search keyword as "fire and smoke damage professional + your location" to avoid unrelated sites and contents being indexed.

    Thanks!
