For the first question, you could Bondo Wood Filler, sand and finish after that dries.

The second question, I just don't understand what you want to do. From the way it is written, I don't think the kids would like that. Please repost the second question so you can get help with that project.

It should most likely say kit. And how would you know what kids like?

Could you fill with wood filler and paint?

Use wood putty either tinted to match or paint afterwards.

I'm thinking you want to cover the top of the kit as a pin cushion. If so, add a layer of foam and then upholster. You can glue it down or use upholstery tacks.

Wood filler to repair the corner. Overfill slightly. Once it's hard just sand it into shape. I don't know what part you want to cover.

Hello. I prefer epoxy putty over with a filler finding the wood filler filler sometimes not as structural as the epoxy. It would dry a light gray and we need to be painted to disguise the repair. I recently just repaired part of the doorway molding where the deadbolt took out a chunk of the wood. It is a nice structural repair that can be sanded, drilled and painted.

I agree that wood filler doesn't always perform as expected. It can shrink, crumble, etc. Use an epoxy or Bondo.

LOL! Please post your project covering the kids with fabric and pincushions!

To cover something with fabric and create a pincushion you will want to get some batting. I would cut my fabric at 1/4" larger all around, turn under the 1/4" and run a seam line. Then glue the fabric in place on 3 sides and stuff the space underneath with batting until it's really full. Glue down the fourth side and voila! Large pincushion!

I would use Bondo or Minwax high performance wood filler. Make sure you over fill the area then sand down. You will have to repaint the drawer unless you can get paint to match.

Yes, on that high-wear edge, I agree the epoxy or Bondo. I’d wipe it down with alcohol to clean it first.

You might check out cushions or pillows at thrift stores, or even patio furniture cushions and up-cycle them. It could save you from buying the foam and constructing it from scratch.
